11 Years Of Student Of The Year: Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra celebrated the anniversary of their debut film on Thursday

11 years of Student Of The Year: Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra stepped into the film industry with Student Of The Year in 2012. On October 19, the film completed 11 years since its release. The actors celebrated the special day with their fans on social media.

Alia, who recently received a National Award for Gangubai Kathiawadi, shared a video of herself writing number 11 on a frosted glass. Her caption read, "11 years (white heart emoji) how time fliesss (sun emoji) (sic)."

Varun shared posts created by fan clubs on his Instagram stories. The caption read, "#11yearsofvarundhawan". The actor used Student Of The Year's song Ishq Wala Love in the background. 

Sidharth also added a couple of fan posts on his Instagram stories and thanked them for their love and support. The actor also hosted a special AMA session on X, titled Ask Sid. Thanking a fan during the session, Sidharth wrote, "Thank u everyone, Big love and respect. Cheers to many more roles and cinema."

Student Of The Year was directed by Karan Johar. The film revolves around Abhimanyu (Sidharth Malhotra), a middle-class student in an elite college. His best friend is Rohan (Varun Dhawan), the college heartthrob and a rich lad. However, their friendship is tested when Rohan's girlfriend Shanaya (Alia Bhatt) kisses Abhimanyu. He falls in love with her, leading to a crack in their friendship. While competing for the Student Of The Year trophy, they have to deal with their personal matters. 

Student Of The Year also starred Rishi Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor, Farida Jalal, Sahil Anand and Sana Saeed. Despite mixed reviews from the critics, the film got a good response at the box office. Considering it starred newcomers, trade analysts weren't confident about the box office performance. However, proving them wrong, Student Of The Year emerged successful, commercially.

Due to the positive box office response to Student Of The Year, Karan greenlit the sequel and passed the directorial baton to Punit Malhotra. Student Of The Year 2 (2019) launched Chunky Panday's daughter Ananya Panday along with actress-singer Tara Sutaria. They were paired opposite Tiger Shroff. The film received an average response at the box office.
