Even as Madhuri Dixit steps into Hema Malini's rather large shoes for Sanjay Dutt's Satte Pe Satta remake, she is eager to see what changes have been made to the character in the script before she signs the dotted line.
Speaking from Denver on her 44th birthday yesterday, Mads says, "A remake of Satte Pe Satta sounds good. Let's be fair.
SPS was made 29 years ago. It can't be the same. I'd like to see what changes have been made before I agree to do the film. They've told me they'll send the script. I'm waiting for it."
Another problem is that Mrs Dixit-Nene has just returned home to the US and is in no mood to return to Mumbai in a hurry.
She says, "Through Jhalak Dikhla Jaa I was able to connect with the younger generation who had not seen that much of my work.
It was a trip I will cherish. But now I am back here with my family. And I'd like to spend some time with them. So I don't really know when I'll return to India."
When we asked Hema Malini (the original Indu from Satte Pe Satta) what she felt about Madhuri playing her role in the remake, her retort was, "I think someone much younger should play the part."
