"It is a good thing that the audience is getting emotional as that means our story is working. If there wasn't any emotional connect, then we would have failed as movie makers," Kabir said here.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" marks a totally different cinematic offering from Kabir's last outing with Salman, "Ek Tha Tiger", in which the "Dabangg" star was seen in an out-and-out action avatar.
The film's story revolves around a mute Pakistani girl, played by Harshaali Malhotra, who wanders into India by mistake and finds a loving and caring protector in a man, essayed by Salman.
"I think it was a story like that in which we needed a simple and loving Salman and it is a very beautiful story... the way we have made it, that itself is a treatment which works for the film," added Kabir.
The film, which released on July 17 -- a day ahead of Eid -- also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It has zoomed past the Rs.100 crore mark at the box office in its opening weekend itself.
