Prominent Academician, Educator & Entrepreneur, Dr. Lal Tanwani, was among the few prominent global Indians to win the prestigious Oxford’s Mahatma Gandhi Leadership Award for his remarkable contributions to education.

The CEO of Padma Coaching Classes and the Director of Programs at the Padma Institute of Knowledge & Research was conferred with this award in a prestigious ceremony held at the Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford, UK on October 2nd, 2024. The grand event was organized by the NRI Welfare Society (UK Chapter) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and celebrate global Indian achievements.
The award was bestowed to Dr. Lal in the presence of eminent dignitaries including the chief guests- Lord Mayor of Oxford Cllr Mike Rowley, Mayor Lubna Arsha, and Judge Ajit Swaran Singh (Ambassador of NRI Welfare Society, New Zealand).
The educationalist has been recognised for his commitment to knowledge and academic excellence. Dr Lal, affectionately known as Lal Sir in the academic industry, has a 3-decade-long illustrious career in education. The man has been accredited for holding the most educational degrees by an individual. Dr. Lal Tanwani possesses an exceptional ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, adeptly addressing students' needs while maximizing the quality and impact of education.
Standing at the august podium, Dr. Lal Tanwani expressed his deep gratitude for being bestowed with the Mahatma Gandhi Leadership Award at a place like Oxford University which is an epitome of academic excellence and intellectual heritage. While delivering his acceptance speech Dr. Lal said and we quote, “The recognition reaffirmed my commitment in setting excellent academic standards to advancing education for future generations in my country. The award also acknowledges the countless students I have impacted in my 30 years of teaching journey. Being felicitated at Oxford University is a testament to my dedication, determination, and willingness to inculcate both virtues and values in my students.”
Dr. Tanwani, hailing from an underprivileged family, has achieved national and international recognition, with his name appearing in the World Book of Records. Having delivered over 100,000 lectures and conducted 1,200 career seminars, Dr. Tanwani has educated more than 50,000 students. Apart from playing the entrepreneur role at Padma Institute of Knowledge, the renowned educator and motivator is also the Director of Navjeevan Cooperative Bank Limited and the Founder Trustee of BBRT International School and Padma International Preschool. Dr. Tanwani also holds three Ph. D.s from three different universities. He has authored numerous books and researched papers on multiple subjects. His recently published book "BHARAT Leading Yesterday- Leading Tomorrow” has already sparked global interest as it speaks about the power of India and India's contribution to the world to date.
