Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Cultural Outreach Program
Infosys Foundation, in collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, is delighted to announce the "Infosys Foundation – Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Cultural Outreach Program," set to take place from June 7th to June 13th, 2024. This week-long event will be held daily from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan auditorium, located at Plot 3A, Sector-30, Vashi, Navi Mumbai – 400703.

The Cultural Outreach Program is designed to celebrate and promote India’s rich cultural heritage through a diverse range of performances and activities. Attendees will enjoy classical music, dance, folk arts, and theatrical performances that showcase India’s vibrant cultural tapestry.
Event Schedule:
Day 1: June 7, Friday – Inauguration & Abhang
Dhol Tasha: This performance highlights the historical significance of Dhol Tasha in Maharashtra, introduced by Lokmanya Tilak as a unifying force.
Inauguration Dance: Traditional Bharatanatyam by GVRNK foundation students.
Abhang by Pandit Sanjeev Chimmalgi: Pandit Sanjeev Chimmalgi, a renowned Hindustani vocalist and disciple of C. R. Vyas, will perform traditional Maharashtrian devotional songs.
Day 2: June 8, Saturday – Chakri Bhajan
Chakri Bhajan by Gurubabaji Ausekar Maharaj & Group: Experience the devotional songs featuring instruments like Taal, Pakhawaj, and Mridangam. Chakri Bhajans involve circular movements and continuous singing by devotees.
Day 3: June 9, Sunday – Lavni Ke Rang
Lavni Performance by Bhushan Korgaonkar & Co.: Bhushan Korgaonkar, a writer, translator, and theatre producer, will present his critically acclaimed theatre production, Sangeet Bari, celebrating traditional Lavni artists of Maharashtra.
Day 4: June 10, Monday – Folk Dances
Garbha Dance by Chintan Satish: A performance by the Dadasaheb Phalke award winner.
Samai Dance: A traditional folk dance from Goa, performed with brass lamps on dancers' heads.
Vithal Dance: A dance in honor of Vithoba, central to the Varkari faith in Maharashtra.
Gondhal: A performance by the Gondhali community, known for their mythological songs about the Gods and Goddesses of Maharashtra.
Day 5: June 11, Tuesday – Kirtan
Kirtan by Charudatta Aphale: Son of renowned kirtan performer Govindswami Aphale, Charudatta Aphale will present traditional kirtans, carrying forward his family’s rich legacy.
Day 6: June 12, Wednesday – Sufi Music
Sufi Music by Mukhtiyar Ali: A folk singer from Bikaner, Rajasthan, Mukhtiyar Ali belongs to a semi-nomadic community of Mirasi known for their Sufi singing traditions.
Day 7: June 13, Thursday – Kathiawad Dance
Kathiawad Dance by Saptak Folk Dance Group: An internationally acclaimed dance group from Gujarat, Saptak will perform traditional dances from Kathiawad.
