A YouTube Originals Show, produced by Fremantle, You V YouTube was launched on 9th October 2021 and its new episodes are streamed at 7 pm every Saturday and Sunday. It is hosted by Gaurav Kapur, the celebrity Indian television presenter. The show brings together twelve veterans who are experts in their respective fields, in the form of a creative bench. These professionals are from a wide array of fields ranging from Math to Movies, English to Environment, and from Technology to Travel and they quiz the contestants during the course of the show. For the uninformed, this is how it goes: In this quiz-cum-game show, contestants are chosen from a player pool of potential candidates. They are then challenged with ten questions across ten different topics for an opportunity to win over ten lakh rupees. The prize money doubles with every question answered correctly. The masters who do the quizzing are: Ganesh Pai, the Math master, Arun Krishnamurthy, the ecological engineer, Roshni Mukherjee, the Science savvy, Sucharita Tyagi, the Movies and Music afficionado, Gaurav Chaudhary, the technologist, Reena D’Souza, the Sports star, Gaurav Garg, the General Knowledge geek, Ceema Picardo, the English phonologist, Nidhi Mohan, the Health and Wellness expert, Ranveer Brar, the celebrity Masterchef, Rachana Ranade, the Finance guru and Tanya Khanijow, the travel know-all. While the first nine of them are the “permanent creators” of the show who would be asking the first nine questions to the contestants, Ranveer, Rachana and Tanya are the “guest creators” who will be on rotation with one of them quizzing the contestants on the “wildcard” topic selected for that episode.
What follows in the show is a captivating battle of wits between the contestants and creators. You may have watched the videos of some of these YouTubers individually, but when they come together and share a platform, the effect is simply phenomenal. For one, they back their questions with relevant data, concepts, trivia, visuals and explanations turning them into precious bites of knowledge that no other individual platform can offer. Added to them are Gaurav Kapur’s generous doses of wits and banter. He literally strings them all together with his humour, infusing confidence in the contestants when they are stressed and keeping the fun quotient high throughout. GK’s take on General Knowledge (appropriately titled “GK ka GK”) serves like a delectable dressing for this superfood of a show, guaranteeing plenty of hilarious moments that are worth watching in loop. GK also exposes the hidden talents of all the creators in his typical “I’ve heard that…” way unexpectedly. For instance, Gaurav Garg is a dentist by profession but educator by passion who strives to provide quality education at low cost. Sucharita is an RJ and a voice over artist apart from being an acclaimed critic. Ganesh Pai is an endurance cyclist, Arun was a techie before a polluted lake caught his attention turning him into a crusader for saving freshwater bodies. Roshni is a classical dancer and Gaurav Chaudhary is the recipient of the best Tech Influencer at Cannes!
