Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot laid the foundation stone of 4101 works in 232 urban bodies in the state. With these road development works worth Rs 1528 crore, 2642 kms long roads will be constructed and developed.


Shri Gehlot, in the foundation laying function, virtually addressed the people of the state on Saturday. He said a strong road network plays an important role in the progress of any state. This year, tribal and desert areas with a population of more than 250 and other areas with population of more than 350 as per the census-2011, are being linked with roads.


The Chief Minister directed the officers of the concerned department to complete the work on time along with maintaining the quality of the roads. He also expressed grief over the untimely death of a child who died of falling into a pothole on the road in Sikar. He said there should be no compromise in the quality of the construction works. Apart from the departmental experts and third party auditor, the district administration officers and public representatives should monitor the quality of the work. Local people should also play their important role in this.

Shri Gehlot said that Rajasthan is becoming a model state in the road network. The state is witnessing all round development in every sector including roads, education, medical, employment, agriculture, water, electricity and industry. The state government is committed to its vision to include Rajasthan in the leading states of the country by the year 2030. 

Black spots fixed, accidents will reduce

The Chief Minister said that special attention is being paid on the construction of roads along with preventing road accidents. After identifying 1548 black spots in the state, 1365 have been fixed. Along with the inspection by the experts, now the responsibility of the company making the roads has been made for 5 years. Besides this, Rs 55 crore has been approved for the Centre of Excellence for Road and Building Construction in Jaipur.  

Initiative to make 3 roads accident-free

Shri Gehlot said that the audit has been carried out by the experts to make Shahjahanpur to Ajmer, Bar to Bilada  (Jodhpur) and Sikar to Bikaner roads accident-free. Initiative has been taken to make these 3 roads free from accidents by fixing the black spots and other reasons for accidents on these roads. Soon these works will be completed.

1.79 crore families registered, will get relief

The Chief Minister said that to provide relief from the increasing inflation in the country, the state government started Mehangai Rahat (Inflation Relief) camps in the entire state. More than 1.79 crore families have registered themselves in these camps and have received more than 7.60 crore guarantee cards. These families have started getting relief in 10 schemes including in medical, employment, social security pension and electricity. Besides this, more than 8.50 lakh lease deeds (pattas) have been issued in prashashan sheharon/gaon ke sang campaigns. The state government has also amended many rules for the lease deeds.

Rajasthan Model state in road network

Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Shanti Kumar Dhariwal said that the infrastructure is being strengthened every year by increasing the road works in urban bodies. Work is being done by taking opinion of public representatives and local people. Public Works Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Jatav said that commendable works have been done in the road sector in the last 4.5 year. Quality construction of new roads and missing links is being done at a fast pace in new gram panchayats, villages and cities. Now Rajasthan has become a model state in the road network.

PWD principal secretary Vaibhav Galriya said that 2083 (95%) out of 2189 works were completed in 2021-22, while 2469 (74%) out of 3368 works have been completed in 2022-23.

Ministers, MLAs, public representatives, department officers and general public from all the urban bodies virtually attended the function.
