In a spectacular display of skill and commitment, four teams under the mentorship of RFL Academy recently took the spotlight among 59 competing teams from across India at the FIRST Tech Challenge India national chapter. The event not only highlighted the technical prowess of the students but also emphasized the life skills instilled by RFL Academy's coaching, with the overarching theme of the year being centerstage.


A pivotal lesson from the competition was the undeniable importance placed on the original work of students. This principle was earnestly recognized and appreciated by the discerning panel of judges, accentuating the core value of hands-on learning that took center stage in the judging process.


The commitment to a "Student's Learning FIRST Approach" remained unwavering for RFL coaches, demonstrating resilience and dedication, placing student learning at the forefront. This commitment manifested in the outstanding performances of the teams, where the centerstage was occupied by the genuine efforts of the students.


The awards haul for RFL Academy's teams was substantial:

  1. 1st Place Control Award - Team Lab Fusion (RFL Surat): In addition to securing this prestigious award, they emerged as Robot Game Semi Finalists, triumphing in all six of their league matches.
  2. 2nd Place Think Award - Team Sigma (RFL Mumbai): Alongside being Robot Game Semi Finalists, Team Sigma won five out of six league matches, demonstrating their technical acumen.
  3. 2nd Place Innovate Award - Team Metal Mavericks (In Association with Athena Education - Delhi):Recognized for their innovative approach, Team Metal Mavericks stood out in a competitive field.
  4. Dean's List Finalist - Yugsingh Gharia (Lab Fusion): Acknowledged for exceptional leadership and commitment, Yugsingh Gharia showcased the qualities of a future leader.
  5. Jr. Dean's List Finalist - Saisha Arora (Sigma):** Saisha Arora's accomplishments as a junior Dean's List Finalist highlighted the depth of talent within RFL Academy, taking her place at the centrestage of recognition.

Even the newest entrant, Team Omega, composed of students from grades 7 and 8, left an indelible mark with their maturity in judging interviews and on-field performance, setting the stage for future success at the centerstage of competitions to come.

Beyond the accolades, the commitment of RFL Academy to community upliftment shone through. These teams taught robotics for free to nearly 600 underprivileged students, raising close to INR 9 lakhs to support continuous robotics learning for those in need. They also engaged with top STEM engineers and visited renowned industries, gaining practical insights into the real-life applications of robotics, placing the community impact at the centerstage of their achievements.

The success of RFL Academy's teams extends beyond competitions to their comprehensive training programs. Students underwent rigorous training in CAD with Onshape, coding with Python Open CV and Java, 3D printing, and the use of power tools like drills and Dremel, bringing their technical skills to the centerstage of their educational journey.

A notable aspect of RFL Academy's approach is the emphasis on being "More than just robots." The coaches mentor students for all aspects of the FIRST competitions, molding them into future engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and beyond. Participation in FIRST competitions also enhances students' profiles for college applications, with FIRST having partnerships with the top 200 universities across the USA and Canada, offering scholarships totaling USD 60 million annually, placing their academic and career futures at the centerstage of opportunities.

In its seventh consecutive year of triumph, RFL Academy stands out as the only robotics institute in India successfully mentoring students for both FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition.
