Nimmo of PYAAR HAI TOH HAI is quite similar to my personality, says Paanie Kashyap

"This October will see a promising cute girl winning the hearts of the audience, and she is bound to gain stardom in Bollywood," predicts filmmaker Sanjeev Kumar about his discovery.

Paanie Kashyap performed convincingly in the play 'Asadh Ka Ek Din' and repeated her feat in - Blind Women's Club. "I have always desired to try it out in feature films and my starting point was a lead role in the short film 'Dwand' which gathered critical acclaim in festivals," says this petite girl adding that the negative role done to perfection that it fetched from her fans, "My character appeared so convincing that there was a flood of brickbats as well as praises."

The girl who plays the role of Nimmo in PYAAR HAI TOH HAI, Paanie Kashyap speaks to mid-day:

How was your journey from being a television host to Bollywood?
My grandmother is my biggest inspiration and then my father encouraged me to pursue my dreams. Daddy always told me to pick up doing the most challenging work, though he was very concerned and caring about me. I miss my father as he would have been the happiest person to see my maiden film being released this week."

Having done Television and then theatre, was it still difficult to deliver before the Camera for a feature film?
Though I displayed confidence but inside my heart I was feeling very nervous as I was being directed by Pradeep R.K. Chaudhary who has assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Pradeep Sir is a perfectionist to the core but was patient with me as he understood that it is my first feature film. Initial days of the shoot were filled with skepticism, but I lived with the moment of truth and then to my amazement I realized that the film was complete. It was sort of a Magic!

Describe the character of Nimmo that you are playing in Pyaar Hai Toh Hai.
Nimmo is a happy go lucky girl who is clear about what she wants to do though she ends up trying several things as she is bought up in a safe environment of her family. 'Mujhe life mein koi cheez nahi milti toh main paagal si ho jaati hoon' is her thinking and at one stage she even asks the other person 'Tune kabhi kissi ko kiss kiya hai?' even though this girl hasn't experienced that in her life. There is an element of curiosity behind her confident appearance.

How would you compare yourself with the character of Nimmo?
There are several similarities between my nature and that of Nimmo. This girl Nimmo is a stubborn character, so am I (giggles), Nimmo wants to try out different things in life, so do I. Nimmo is a happy go lucky girl and goes with the flow of life, while I am a bit different here as I feel that I know what exactly to do or achieve in my life.
