Meet Pooja Agarwal Shaikh: An entrepreneurial journey in an unconventional field

Pooja Agarwal Shaikh

The last two years have seen this world reeling under unprecedented times that caused havoc on our mental well-being. With sudden job loss, loss of loved ones, and constant isolation, almost everyone’s life seemed hazy to themselves.  The pressure of social media and the incessant hustle culture further added to the impossible pursuit of being perfect. As the quagmire of low self-esteem, loneliness, guilt, fear, and other unprocessed emotions thickened, Pooja Agarwal Shaikh chose to start The Wise Oak. A licensed healer with credible certificates in Tarot Reading and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Pooja Agarwal Shaikh is an accomplished healing therapist with over 4 years of experience. She started The Wise Oak with the sole ambition of helping people constructively deal with their emotions so that the world becomes a better place to live. The Wise Oak is a holistic healing service company that offers Tarot Reading along with unique workshops like Heal Your Life, Growth Mindset, and Emotional Reset Programme. Strongly inspired by her first-ever mentor Louise Hay, Pooja has designed all of these workshops herself. Her entrepreneurial journey has not been without its share of ups and downs. Being a woman, it was hard to navigate through harsh judgments where her craft was looked at as a mere hobby rather than something serious. Another challenge that Pooja has had to constantly fight was to break the perception around cosmic healing. Oftentimes, people painted her services with the same brush as magic and superstition.

People expected her to dress and behave in a certain way that aligned with the popular perception of how a healer should look like. Healing is an energy based practice and doesn’t come with tangible techniques other than committed practice. That makes it difficult for many to trust the services. No one was ready to see the rationality behind it. It took consistent effort and perseverance to break this perception not just about herself but also about her work. She refused to cave in and worked hard to break the myth to establish that Healing is not something superficial sans logic and analysis.   “I kept my head down and just worked on building credibility. Soon enough, people saw me and my services for what it is once they started seeing results” said Pooja on how she dealt with the challenges. Being a practical person, Pooja is not someone who believes in everything that she sees. She constantly learns and evolves her knowledge about healing to offer the best practice to her clients. A passionate spiritual blogger, a lot of her articles have been published on leading e- magazines. Her philantrophic spirit leads her to help women in distress. In fact, she had volunteered to support women who lost their husbands in Covid by providing them free healing services and is part of many support groups and NGOs. She is also an active member of the reputable WICCI, Maharashtra. This is what sets her and The Wise Oak apart from many in the industry. Pooja doesn’t like to preach anything she doesn’t believe in nor does she impose her belief onto someone else. Instead, she focuses on her clients’ emotions and guides them step by step, and allows them to make their decisions in their own time. Her practical tools and techniques deliver sustainable results – a major reason why a majority of her clients are repeat customers.  Beating all the odds, today The Wise Oak has touched over 1000 lives across India through their services. Moreover, Pooja also conducts workshops and seminars regularly to empower people to live their best version and leverages her social media presence to connect with people who may need her services.  Her motto, Pooja says “is to be a voice of reason and empathy for all women who often find themselves silenced and lonely.”
