Digital transformation is critical for all businesses, small and large. That message is amplified by seemingly every keynote, panel discussion, article, or study addressing how businesses can remain competitive and relevant in an increasingly digital world.

According to a 2018 report from IDC, one of the leading market research firms, 38% of traditional businesses have already implemented a digital business strategy, while 89% of enterprises are planning to implement or have already implemented a digital business strategy. Among other statistics, IDC reports that 95% of top adopters of digital business strategies are services, 93% are financial services, and 92% are healthcare-related businesses.

However, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the world came to a halt, and many skeptics believed that this was the end of the digital transition. However, according to Gianni Senesi, the exact opposite occurred, and the COVID-19 pandemic appears to have accelerated the pace of digital transition.

Gianni Senesi is a serial entrepreneur, marketing professional, and Instagram growth enthusiast with a focus on performance marketing. He is a vocal proponent of digitalization, having assisted numerous customers—both businesses and individuals—in maximizing the benefits of the digital world.

According to Senesi, the primary reason the COVID-19 pandemic sparked a global digital transition is that the majority of businesses reacted quickly. "COVID-19 caused and continues to cause enormous problems throughout the world," says Senesi. "However, we reacted quickly and adapted to our newfound circumstances. Numerous businesses quickly overcame obstacles and met the prerequisites for digitalizing their processes."

Senesi adds that the spread of the novel coronavirus and the suspension of in-person meetings for non-essential businesses accelerated these adoptions significantly, as they forced businesses to look for innovative digital solutions that allowed them to continue operating remotely and serving their client base.

He does, however, explain that even prior to the pandemic, technology had become a more integral part of the workforce. "Businesses were looking at technology as a means of engaging with customers, allowing for some workplace flexibility, and automating and speeding up processes," Senesi explains. That is why he believes that only businesses that embrace digitalization completely will survive in the coming years.

"The transformation of business and work to digital platforms is unstoppable," says Gianni Senesi. "How could anyone oppose it as it paves the way for maximum efficiency through cost savings, improved employee management, and improved customer management? Those who do not believe this will quickly be overtaken by the competition."
