In the recently organized felicitation ceremony – Former Minister and MLA Ganesh Naik was felicitated with the Midday Maharashtra Gaurav Award by the Honorable Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Smt. Amruta Fadanvis the guest of honors for the award ceremony.

MLA Ganesh Naik was felicitated with the Midday Maharashtra Gaurav Award

Ganesh Naik began his career as an MLA in 1990, he belongs to the locally powerful 'Agri' community, and he is loved and admired across all sections of the society for his tireless efforts for the welfare and benefit of the people across Thane and Navi Mumbai. Known for his secular attitude, Ganesh Naik also referred to as “Dada” by people gained tremendous response to the extent of even cutting across political parties.


Popularly being called the 'Shilpakar of Navi Mumbai' as the city has grown in the past decades purely due to his astute vision and the huge magnitude of social and philanthropic efforts by him.  During Lockdown Ganesh Naik with his dedicated team of volunteers did tremendous work in reaching out to every household to raise the awareness of the Covid Protocols and distribute masks, sanitizers, while even the local residents feared stepping out of their homes. He was the first person to have openly come out and donate Ration Kits to underprivileged families.


Under his leadership Navi Mumbai has become the only city in Maharashtra to buy a Dam post-independence providing 24 hours water supply. Navi Mumbai has been awarded – Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan’s Cleanest City Award only due to his efforts that garbage is scientifically disposed off at dumping ground along with Waste-to-energy projects to reduce carbon footprints & promote clean & climate-friendly technologies.


Several ongoing projects like Airoli Katai Elevated Road, the Airoli Auditorium, Airoli’s Coastal & Marine Biodiversity Centre, Jetty at Diva for benefit of Koli community, provision of Rs 50 Lakhs from his MLA funds for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial, and recent Complete Property Tax waiver for houses up to 500sq.ft and 60% Tax Waivers to mid-size homeowners and other pollution control initiatives undertaken by him.

While Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has begun 2 CBSE schools and Senior Citizens Recreational Centre. Other pragmatic initiatives like Electric Buses for Eco-Friendly commute; Flamingo Park for environment lovers, making Sulai Devi and Gawli Dev as a Tourist spot, Navi Mumbai to Mumbai eco-friendly water-ways. Ganesh Naik has drafted a robust city mobility plan consisting of flyovers, roads, and skywalks, an Indoor Stadium at Ghansoli for athletes training and hosting sports events, setting up a Medical College and setting up theme gardens to make NMMC a city of Gardens.
