“From a young age, poetry started resonating with my being effortlessly. Even as a child, I was often extremely moved by profoundly emotional poetic expressions. Of course, I couldn’t decipher what poems did to me at that tender age but I just knew there was something about them that created a lasting impression on my mind and soul. Wordsworth’s Daffodils, Frost’s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, and Tennyson’s The Charge of the Light Brigade are some of the poems I grew up on. An entirely new and exciting world of poetry opened up for me as a child when my father introduced me to Palgrave’s Golden Treasury. I would read the poems again and again, sometimes even singing them to myself. I honestly think this was when I began internalizing the process of expressing myself in words.”

“I was probably in the tenth grade when I first wrote a poem. This was an eco poem on the huge Banyan Tree that was there outside one of our neighbour’s houses. To tell you the truth, I don’t know when the poet within me started coming to life; perhaps it was just my exposure to literature from an early age. I kept writing on and off but it was never for the world. It was just my way of finding meaning in life and expressing myself creatively. However, at one point when I started sharing my work with family, friends, and relatives, many of them started encouraging me to publish my work. After a lot of contemplation and encouragement from my cherished ones, I published this collection of poems called Days V.”

“This book called “Days V” is a collection of selected poems written from 2017 to 2020. If I have to describe this poetry collection in a word or two then I would say “life and memories.” However, the life and memories that I talk of are not just my own. It’s a culmination of all that I have seen around me in life, basically, all that has triggered and inspired me to pen down my thoughts. You will see many poems dedicated to how women have to fight with subtle mindsets in their lives. You will also gain an understanding of my idea of identity and the lack of it, of abuses that happen to women, of love, of hatred, of life, and of loss when I write these poems.”

“I want to tell the readers that the poems that they will find in this book shed a light on sturdy complexes of the human mind from various perspectives and angles, the intricate emotions swirling around human beings of disoriented mindsets, the despondencies which are part and parcel of life, the pristine aspects related to life, myriad feelings and sentiments which are synonymous with human race. The book is an attempt to make the readers think.”

“For me, so long as I breathe, I will continue to write poetry. I have discovered that for me, writing is an involuntary process. The words just come out on paper without any effort but as my work gets released to the public, I do hope to create a constructive dialogue with it. I hope the readers enjoy it and read it with a fond heart and an open mind.”
