Comfort With A Little Bit Of Drama Is My Style Mantra - Manasa Subramani.

1. How did you start your career? Tell us about it.

I am an engineering graduate which is no where even remotely connected to fashion. I did my masters in international business and one of the main subject was retail management. Fashion is something I was always very passionate about and through my masters I got to do a lot of interviews for luxury brands. While I was in Australia, post my masters I worked at a jewellery store as a manager which was a great experience for me. My husband and I moved to Singapore that is when I had a lot of free time and I decided to take my profession as a fashion stylist more seriously. I would always help out my friends with their wardrobe for their weddings etc. I love dressing up my clients and helping out people choosing the right outfit and that is one of the main reasons why I got into styling.

2. What is your style mantra?

Comfort with a little bit of drama. Be classic, dramatic and at the same time be comfortable.

3. What advise do you to have the budding designers or stylists who are looking at breaking into the fashion industry?

It is very important to keep oneself updated about the trends in the fashion industry. Make sure you follow the trends and you have to be good at forecasting. You should have your individuality and not copy others.

4. Your favourite photographers so far.

It would be from our recent photoshoot which we did for The Man Magazine with south superstar actor Vishal Krishna would be Sheetal Jain.

5. Who would be your go to designer?

Christian Dior for sure.

6. What is next for you?

I would love to style more celebrities and I want to start my own fashion line. If it all goes well then I surely will have a brand of my own.
