Arjaa also spoke about her role in a Bengali show, ‘Phirki’. She revealed, ‘I got a very important offer to portray the role titled Phirki in a bengali serial that aired in Zee Bangla , it's the story of the struggle of a transgender, who often gets marginalized in our society. Phirki is a mother as well who is fighting for her rights. Eventually she gets involved in politics as well to claim the rights of third gender people in our society. The role cemented my position as an actress in the Bengali industry. I got many offers after that. It also fetched me the Best Actor award of that year.
The Bengali actress shared that she has been involved with the old Hindi theatre group in Mumbai. She said, ‘I've recently shifted to Mumbai to grab better opportunities as I always believe an actor should try to reach horizons and language should never be an obstacle to explore her craft. I've also acted in a bilingual film (Malayalam and Sanskrit) that's slated to release in March next. It's been inspired from the famous Sanskrit play titled 'Mriccha kotikam' and I've played the role of Vasant Sena in it. It's a very interesting project and I'm duly glad to be apart of it. Here in Mumbai I've also become involved with the oldest Hindi theatre group called 'Yatri Theatre'.
She further said, ‘Sometimes I wonder that all the stress and anxiety these days have taken a huge toll on all of us and often we forget to laugh. Maybe that's the reason we don't get to see too many quality comedy films these days. I love the works of Anurag Kashyap, Nagesh Kukunoor and am fond of Old Hindi classics like The Party, Umrao Jaan, Ghar , Bhumika etc. Though I'm also a big time fan of dark, gritty neo noir films of David Fincher and would love to be a part of such projects in future. I also admire the works of our own masters like Ritwik Ghatak.
