We sat him down (only virtually) to have a chat with us regarding what he does, his work, and how he has been taking the cyber security world towards greatness through his efforts.
>> Thanks for taking out the time to chat with us. First, tell us why you chose the digital forensic science world?
Would it sound cliché if I said that I felt I was meant for this industry? But I feel it is a fact that I was meant to be a part of this incredible industry as from a very young age, computers were my happy place. Gradually I saw myself getting inclined toward everything tech and noticed how with the boom of the digital mediums, there were many threats lying deep down, which needed professionals to tackle and guess what? I became that professional to tackle criminal behaviour as a cyber-security expert.
>> What all crimes have you been able to tackle so far in your career?
As a cyber-security expert, I have been able to tackle phishing activities, botnets, identity theft, social engineering, cyber-stalking, and much more. Also, the pandemic has led to a surge of these cybercrimes in India, as most of the businesses, brands, and people moved to digital mediums to continue their activities and endeavours. However, people must remain alert and aware of such activities and be extremely careful of the links they open or the confidential information they share with people or unknown/untrustworthy sites.
>> Tell us more about your work and accolades achieved in the industry thus far.
I have worked passionately each day as a cyber-security and forensic expert and have always made sure to be dedicated towards finding solutions to digital and cyber challenges. My growing interest in the Defi space with NFTs, crypto, and blockchain has also made me a more learned individual. Apart from being an advisor and expert consultant to several law enforcement agencies in India, with 38 certifications and affiliations with companies like Google, Microsoft, HCL, and IBM, I have also done over 2000 seminars, workshops, and the like and emerged as a tech mentor to many.
>> What are your training sessions and your NGO about?
I love being a mentor to students, providing free online cyber training, and so far have reached 100000 users and students. My NGO, eProtect Foundation, acts as the first and the only foundation in India for cybercrime prevention and women's safety, through which we also provide cybercrime-free legal aid.
Ankur Chandrakant is an award-winning personality in the industry who so far has expanded and scaled new EdTech startups and cyber training ventures and, for the past decade, has helped National and State level law enforcement agencies with cybercrime Investigation and cyber training. He was a part of the Dubai Expo 2020/2022 Tech delegates and, in the entertainment niche, also served as a producer for three webs series on Hotstar and Voot.
