After crossing most of the states of the country, Rahul Gandhi's yatra has reached its final stage in Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul's journey of 3,500 km for the past 145 days ended yesterday in Srinagar.

Srinagar: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's padayatra, which has been going on for the past 145 days, has ended in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar. Leaders of 23 political parties are expected to participate in the Rahul Padayatra closing public meeting tomorrow.


Rahul Gandhi started his padayatra in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari on September 7 last year in the name of Bharat Jodo Yatra- India Unity Yatra. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M. K. Stalin inaugurated this yatra.


DMK MPs also participated in Rahul Gandhi's padayatra. Thirumavalavan, head of the DMK's ally Vishika, also participated. Actor Kamal Haasan, president of the Makkal Needhi Maiam, also joined the Rahul Gandhi Yatra. And senior leaders of most of the anti-BJP political parties across the country joined the yatra and extended their support. In this yatra of Rahul, many celebrities like former Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan, human rights activist Medha Bhatkar, social activist Prashant Bhushan, Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson Tushar Gandhi expressed their support to Rahul Gandhi. Jammu and Kashmir leaders Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah also joined the Rahul Yatra.

After Rahul Gandhi reached Sri Nagar and hoisted the flag on this historic occasion, NSUI Tamilnadu  Social Media Wing President Abdul Salam distributed food to the needy elderly in Vedaranyam and Thopputhurai areas of Nagapattinam district.
