On December 25, an Embraer EMBR3.SA passenger plane crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, while flying from Azerbaijan to Russia. The flight, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, was traveling from Baku to Grozny in Chechnya, Russia. The plane had 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board, with only 28 survivors, according to Kazakh authorities.
