The women were chased by a traffic police constable Shivaji M Pawar after the victim Sunita Thackeray who alighted from the Mumbai-bound bus here at Golden Dyes Naka approached him, they said.
The constable managed to bring the bus to a halt after chasing it for a while and caught the trio--Kalyani Nagraj Enthikallu, Annapurna Nagraj Enthikallu and Soni Ravi Enthikallu--after co-travellers accused them of having snatched the chain from Thackeray.
After recovering the woman's gold chain, they were arrested and offences were registered against them under section 379 of IPC, police said.
All the arrested women are footpath dwellers from Borivali, police said adding investigations are on.
