The late Jayalalithaa was at her candid best during an interview with Simi Garewal on popular TV show 'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal' where she revealed her crushes, sang her favourite Hindi song and spoke about MGR.
In 1999, Jayalalithaa recalled having a crush on Indian cricketer Nari Contractor and Bollywood film star Shammi Kapoor.
That's not all! When Simi Garewal asked her which was her favourite song, Jayalalithaa said there were so many, but named 'Ae Malik Tere Bande Hum' and 'Aaja Sanam'. When Simi Garewal requested her to sing a few lines, she initially refused, but after a little prodding Jayalalithaa sang 'Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum' from the film 'Chori Chori'.

Jayalaithaa also spoke about her equation with Tamil actor-filmmaker-politician Marudur Gopalan Ramachandran (MGR), with whom she did 28 films. When Simi Garewal asked, "Did you fall in love with him?", Jayalaithaa said, "He was a charming man. Anyone who met him, loved him."
Jayalaithaa said she had never experienced unconditional love. She thought it was fluff from books and movies, not from real life.

J. Jayalalithaa, one of India's most charismatic political leaders, died in Chennai on Monday night after a bitter 74-day battle for life, ending an era in Tamil Nadu politics and plunging the state in deep grief. She was 68.
Jayalalithaa, a spinster, breathed her last at the Apollo Hospital just before midnight, over 24 hours after she suffered a cardiac arrest that derailed the halting progress she had been making on the health front.
A veteran actor, the self-made Jayalalithaa, who was five times Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, was admitted to the Apollo Hospital on September 22 with fever and dehydration, just four months after she led the AIADMK to triumphantly retain power in assembly elections.
