Commuters forced to battle through a traffic jam at Amar Mahal junction and on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) on Friday evening in Mumbai due to VVIP movement
The opening of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) on Friday morning wasn’t all good news for Mumbaikars with commuters experiencing a traffic jam reported at Amar Mahal junction and on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) in the evening.

While the SCLR did not create any traffic problem in the morning, traffice was stuck in the evening.
It should be noted that the traffic jam was reported on the north and south-bound stretch of EEH.
While many people believed that one of the reasons for the traffic jam was the opening of SCLR, traffic police officials refuted this reasoning and attributed the traffic snarl to some VVIP movement.
Speaking to mid-day, V.B. Bhujval Senior Police Inspector (Traffic) Chembur said, "It is true that there is a traffic on EEH near Amar Mahal junction, but that is due to VVIP movement."
When questioned whether the traffic jam was because of the SCLR opening, he said, "We will be able to say whether the traffic jam that is taking place near Amar Mahal junction on EEH is because of SCLR or not on Monday because today (Friday) being a holiday the number of vehicles on the road is less."
