We know the festive bells will soon ring out loud, and you'll be on the lookout for some sweet soulmates. Rinky Kumar and Kareena N Gianani try out two new havens of goodies to see whether they make the cut during Christmas
Big Cupcakes: When we open the box that Sana Ahuja Mohan, owner of Crumbilicious, a newly opened bakery at Colaba, has sent us, a squeal of delight escapes from our lips. We can’t stop feasting our senses on the myriad range of goodies that are in store for us. We start off with the big cupcakes comprising Red Velvet, Double Chocolate (Rs 85 each), Oreo, Hazelnut and Raspberry (Rs 90 each). All the cupcakes have a soft base that just melts in our mouth. The Raspberry one has a cream cheese frosting topped with raspberries that is a tad too citrusy for our taste. The Oreo cupcake has a lemon frosting with an Oreo biscuit perched on it. As we take a bite, a secret Oreo cookie snuggled within the sponge cake surprises us. The clear winners are the Red Velvet and the Double Chocolate. While the former has the right amount of sweetness in its frosting, the latter is decadence personified. One bite and we are transported to Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

Cheesecakes, teacakes, tartlets and dessert jars: The Strawberry Cheesecake (Rs 70) is simply delicious. The cream cheese garnished with a strawberry piece is light while the biscuit base is crunchy. We like the fact that the cheesecake isn’t overtly sweet. The Vanilla Chocolate Chip Teacake (Rs 180) is moist, light and fresh. The Seasalt Caramel with Chocolate Tartlet (Rs 55) has a crunchy tart base and a dense chocolate frosting garnished with specks of seasalt. Among the dessert jars (Rs 200 each), we absolutely love the Chocolate Hazelnut dessert jars. It is self-indulgence bottled in a jar. The rich, gooey dense chocolate leaves us wanting for more the moment we have a spoonful. It’s the perfect comfort food to indulge in on a cozy winter night while watching our favourite rom-com.
Nutella Sea Salt Cookie: These cookies melt in the mouth and you’ll remember the aftertaste for quite some time. You know the magic word: Nutella. The light, sea-salt dusting is a welcome addition.

Double Chocolate Cookie: Are you the sort who judges a baker by how cannot-forget-for-heaven’s sake their double chocolate chip cookie is? Well, we are. These cookies are large and loaded with chocolate chips. They also come quite close to being The One.

Almost Candy Bars:
Not that you don’t already know, but there’s no such thing as too much chocolate sticking to your teeth (mouth shut, of course) and a wide smile. These Almost Candy Bars are gooey to the core and are loaded with chocolate chips, M&Ms, chocolate flakes and walnuts. They are a tad high on the sweetness scale, but not many of you’d complain.u00a0

Bite size cupcakes: The bite size cupcakes (R25 each) come in an assortment of flavours such as Kitkat, Peanut Butter, Choc and White Chocolate, Strawberry, Banoffee and Coffee. All the frostings do justice to their names and are light on the palate. Our favourite is the Banoffee that has the right balance of cream cheese frosting, toffee and banana. One bite and two pieces of banana and toffee nestled in the sponge cake welcome us. These cupcakes are the perfect fit for a tea party where you can sit with your friends, relax over a cuppa popping these bite size items in your mouth.
