Sanam boys prefer independent music to Bollywood projects; keen to travel the world for concerts

They started out by sharing content on YouTube, and currently, pop-rock band, Sanam, puts up shows at popular international arenas. This four-member outfit, comprising frontman Sanam Puri (lead vocals), Keshav Dhanraj (drums and vocals), Venky S (bass guitar and vocals) and Samar Puri (lead guitar and vocals), performed in the city over the weekend.

Sanam Puri, who has sung Bollywood chartbusters like Dhat Teri Ki and Ishq Bulaava, says the digital platform has helped the band acquire an identity. "To sustain, you need to understand that content is king. There's no formula to bag followers. The digital world is ever changing."
Although the band has composed the track Main Hoon for The Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014), independent music is their priority. The frontman says, "This is where we get the freedom to make the music we love." Venky chips in, "We wish to travel more.Promoters from some countries have contacted us for shows. Our aim is to enthral music lovers across the world."
