Social media has become the hotbed for controversies these days and Bollywood celebrities are at their vulnerable most, on social media. Right from being shamed for wearing inappropriate clothes to being called out for their personal/political views. However, the film 'Padmavati' seems to be on the receiving end of the incessant trolling and bashing ever since its inception. There has been a lot of discussion and contention over the portrayal of Queen 'Padmavati' and Sultan Allaudin Khilji.
While, Bhansali has clarified time and again that there is no interaction between Khilji and Padmavati, some fringe outfits still want a ban on the film. There was a lot of flak received from the liberal side also, over the portrayal of 'Khilji' who is shown as a megalomaniac.
The filmmakers, however, stick to their stand that the movie is based on the poem 'Padmavat', written by Malik Muhammad Jayasi. Ranveer Singh, who went out of his way to portray 'Allaudin Khilji'is getting trolled on social media for posting an image of himself with the caption, 'Losing My Religion'. The caption is inspired by the lyrics of an iconic song ' Losing My Religion' by the popular American rock-band from the 80s, 'REM'. Here are some of the hilarious tweets which Ranveer received, after he posted the tweet.
