Raj Kundra on surrogacy: Wanted a second child for long

Shilpa Shetty with husband Raj Kundra

The week ended on a bright note in Bollywood as Shilpa Shetty Kundra spread cheer on social media. The actor surprised her fans by announcing that husband Raj Kundra and she had welcomed a baby girl through surrogacy. Born on February 15, their week-old daughter has been named Samisha — a blend of Sanskrit and Russian words, the new mother revealed.

Hours after they teased fans with the first glimpse of their newborn, mid-day got in touch with Kundra. Understandably elated, the second-time father said, "We love being parents, and we loved every bit of it with Viaan Raj [son]. Now, the joy and happiness has doubled with Samisha. We have wanted a second one for a long time. God was kind, and science was in our favour. This child is the answer to all our prayers, mostly Viaan's. This feeling is surreal."

No sooner had Shetty announced the arrival of the little bundle of joy than wishes started pouring in for the couple. Of course, director friend Farah Khan stood out with her hilarious post. The filmmaker, who had been privy to the information of their daughter's arrival, wrote, "Thank god. Couldn't hold the secret much longer. Bless, bless and bless."
