In the film, Guptha has been cast along with veterans such as Saurabh Shukla, Brijendra Kala, Raghubir Yadav and Vipin Sharma. Guptha plays the role of a young duty-bound cop, who is in the midst of interrogations and is constantly pestered by his wife to take some time out for a honeymoon. The film touches upon a sensitive subject in present-day Jammu & Kashmir. It deals with people who are not carrying an identity card and can be subjected to interrogations otherwise meted out to terrorists.
The actor is now travelling to the US for the film’s premiere and is looking forward to the event. “It is a big thing for me. Director Rahat Kazmi and I once met for coffee with no film agenda in mind at that moment. He later saw the rushes of Issaq and thought that I was right for this role. He called me to his office and in a week’s time, I was on board,” says the actor.
So what was it like to work alongside senior actors? “The spontaneity and the ease with which these actors approach their scenes was an eye-opener. I learnt about the art of switching on and off.Saurabh Shukla’s guidance, Raghubir Yadav’s transformation in front of the camera, Kala’s comic timing and Vipin Sharma’s straightforward approach served as great lessons, and the encouraging feedback that I received from them was extremely humbling,” he says.
