Sapna Pereira's (37) tantrum at Rangsharda Auditorium, Bandra, where the MHADA lottery was declared on Tuesday, may have won the sympathy of MHADA officials, but not a flat.

On Tuesday afternoon, Sapna tried to strangulate herself with the strap of her handbag after she lost the lottery, following which Amarjeet Singh Manhas, chairman, MHADA, promised he would recommend her name to the chief minister for a flat, as reported in MiD DAY on May 20. However, after learning that she is a habitual offender, Manhas changed his mind.
"On Tuesday, I asked her to meet me, as she showed me a letter from the PM relief fund that was issued for her visually-challenged daughter. I was under the impression that hers is a genuine case, but now I know that she creates a scene everywhere," he added.
Created a scene
However, Sapna did not give up. Last morning, she created a scene at the MHADA office, Kalanagar, Bandra (east). According to officials, she first broke a glass and threatened people in the MHADA office that she would cut herself with the glass pieces.
Following the drama, she was taken to Gautam Chatterjee, vice president, MHADA, who handed her over to the police. The Kherwadi police station arrested her for blocking government work (Section 353), creating a scene (Section 332), damaging the property (Section 427) and threatening people (Section 506(2). Even, at the police station she misbehaved. "Sapna started shouting and removing her clothes, the women constable had a hard time in controlling her," said a police officer on duty.u00a0
