Mumbai: Liza Rodrigues, a resident of Pearl Society in Dadar fell to her death from the corridor of her residence on the fourth floor at around 5pm on Sunday.

The Rodrigues family is in a state of shock after the unfortunate incident that claimed the life of their teen family member Liza. She was immediately rushed to KEM hospital with head injuries but Liza succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

"I was on duty when I suddenly heard a loud noise. When I rushed to check I saw her fallen in the lobby", said a watchman of the society.

At the time of the incident, allegedly both parents were present at home, with Rodrigues watching a film on television. No family member or resident witnessed the fall.

Though the police investigations are being carried out, the actual reason for the death is yet not confirmed. Though no suicide note has been found, police officials feel that it might be a case of suicide.

"There is no eye witness to the incident. No body has seen her fall. Prima facia it looks like a case of suicide as even parents do not suspect any foul play", said Senior Police Inspector of Bhoiwada police station, Sunil Tondwalkar.

A student of standard 9 at St. Paul’s High School, Rodrigues was known to have been a regular in school and also one of the main singers in the morning prayers at school. "She was good in her studies as well as very soft spoken to talk to," claimed a classmate.

The residents of the society put up Liza's posters in the building to bid her a final farewell.

Rodrigues body was brought back home from the hospital at around Tuesday afternoon after a post mortem was conducted. Her final rites took place at St. Paul’s Church, Dadar by 4pm in the evening after been given a last salute by her schoolmates.
