Fire officials were in a fix when they received a call around 4 pm asking them to rescue a 67-year-old man, who had climbed a Tata Power tower near Priya Darshani Circle, Suman Nagar on Eastern Express Highway, and was threatening to jump. However, they immediately rushed to the spot and managed to rescue him. The man has been identified as Gopal Mendha, a resident of MH, building number 13, Chembur colony.

After the fire officials rescued the man, he was handed over to the local police
Speaking to mid-day, P S Rahangdale, chief fire officer, said, "We received a call around 4 pm on Thursday. The team managed to reach the spot by 4.18 pm. The man was rescued in no time. Officials of the 108 ambulance and Tata Power were also present at the spot for the rescue operation." Sources said that after being rescued, Mendha was handed over to the local police. The cops recovered a letter from him that allegedly mentioned that on May 16, 2014, and May 19, 2016, he was brutally assaulted by Mahesh Mutreja and Naveen Raisigani, which left him bleeding from the mouth. However, he had approached the RCF police after both the incidents, but they refused to take his complaint and instead sent him to the Shatabdi Hospital.
