Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deven Bharti told mid-day that Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Satyanarayan Chaudhary has been asked to conduct a departmental inquiry into the matter and submit a report at the earliest.
Police sources said DCP Chaudhary received orders for the inquiry yesterday morning.
After reading mid-day’s story, NGO Tejas, working towards empowering women in society, extended help to the rape survivor and contacted the police commissioner over it.
The commissioner directed the president of the NGO and the survivor to DCP Chaudhary’s office. Chaudhary told the survivor that Ganame is no longer the investigating officer in her rape case and Assistant Commissioner of Police (DN Nagar division) Arun Chavan has been asked to supervise the investigation.
