Mumbai Crime: Sister slits brother's throat over petty issue

A 21-year-old lady has been arrested by the Malwani police for killing her elder brother over a petty issue on Sunday. The woman and the victim were residents of Gate number 3, Ram-Raheem chawl. This is the third murder in last nine days, which has taken place under the jurisdiction of Malwani police station.

The arrested accused, Babli Yadav, slit her elder brother Santosh Alias Rahul Shivkumar Yadav’s (25) throat with a kitchen knife during a fight at their residence in the wee hours of Sunday. According to Malwani police sources, the accused Babli was sleeping with her younger sister inside their shanty while her mother was talking on the phone outside their dwelling.

Her elder brother Santosh Yadav arrived late at night and began knocking at the door. Babli wasn’t ready to open the door, after which Santosh called upon his mother to intervene. In a fit of rage, Babli opened the door and began fighting with her mother, saying that Santosh had become spoilt.

Santosh intervened in the fight between mother and sister, and started arguing with Babli. When the argument blew up into a full-fledged fight, Santosh pushed Babli, which made her angry. Babli rushed towards the kitchen and got a knife to scare him.

In the altercation that followed, Babli attacked her brother with the knife. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead before admission, said the police. “We have arrested Babli under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and remanded her to police custody,” said Senior Inspector Milind Khetle of the Malwani police station.

In another murder case, the Malwani police found a dead body of a 30-35 year-old unidentified man at Malwani’s Ambujwadi area on Saturday morning, The deceased had deep injury marks on his body; his identity has still not been established.

On November 28, a lady goon Mumtaz alias Netain was killed by some unidentified miscreants. Her dead body was found with multiple injury marks near her residence, but the Malwani police have failed to arrest anyone in the case.
