Child sexual abuse

Days after the Parliament passed the Juvenile Justice Bill, another case of rape by a minor has surfaced in the city. A 15-year-old boy attempted to rape a five-year-old girl from his neighbourhood in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The Dindoshi police have registered a case against the boy. However, as the accused is a minor, he was sent to a juvenile correction home on Thursday.

The survivor had undergone medical tests yesterday and her condition is stable. The survivor and her family often visited the boy’s house.

The police said the horrid incident took place on Wednesday evening, when the five-year-old was playing near her house. The 15-year-old was alone in the house and he lured the girl with a new toy.

When the survivor reached his place, he attempted to rape her. The girl rushed back home and started crying. When her mother asked her the reason, she complained of pain in her abdomen and private parts. Sensing foul play, the mother comforted the child, following which the five-year-old narrated the incident to her.

Police says
SS Tandbhore, senior inspector of police, Dindoshi police station, said, “The incident happened on Wednesday. The accused and the survivor live in the same area. The girl’s mother has registered an FIR and we are investigating the case. The accused, who is 15 years old, has been sent to juvenile correction home.”

The cops have charged the accused of rape under Section 376 of IPC and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
