Unable to digest the fact that his own friend was constantly humiliating him in front of his girlfriend, he plotted the murder for an entire month, posing as a girl to lure his friend to the murder scene at midnight
Unable to digest the fact that his own friend was constantly humiliating him in front of his girlfriend, a 22-year-old decided to put a permanent end to it. But instead of lashing out at his friend in a moment of rage, he nursed his bruised ego for an entire month as he plotted how to kill his friend.

The police identified the killer as Ajay Vishwakarma (22), a graphic designer. His friend Jay Prajapati (20) was a Std XII student who lived in the same locality at VP Road, Navghar in Bhayander east.
Even though they were close friends, Ajay Vishwakarma was deeply upset that his buddy Jay Prajapati grabbed every chance to humiliate him in front of his girlfriend. He started planning his revenge a month in advance. Illustrations/Uday Mohite
A girl for a girl
Since Jay would humiliate him in front of his girlfriend, Ajay also decided to use a girl to exact his revenge. He posed as a girl called Nancy Dixit and began to call and send messages to Jay. He kept this up for a month, until Jay was completely besotted with the girl.
Ajay pretended to be a girl called Nancy Dixit, and began to call and chat with Jay every day for a month. On the midnight of July 28, Jay got a message from Nancy, asking to meet at a secluded spot in Naigaon
On July 28, Ajay posed as Nancy yet again and made nine calls and sent three text messages asking Jay to meet at a secluded spot in Naigaon at midnight. In fact, Ajay had already taken Jay to the spot once before, and had told him that Nancy lived there. He had done this to ensure that when the time came, Jay would know where to go.

Unaware that Nancy was fictional, Jay had become besotted and turned up at the spot to meet her, but instead found Ajay and his accomplice waiting. They beat him to death with rods and dumped the body
But when Jay got there that night, he found Ajay waiting for him there along with another friend. Between 12 am and 2:14 am, the two accused beat Jay to death with iron rods and then dumped his body there. When Jay didn’t turn up at home in the morning, his father lodged a police complaint. Meanwhile, Ajay came up with another plan to mislead the police. On July 31, he called Jay’s father and pretended to be a kidnapper, demanding Rs 15 lakh in ransom.
A couple of days later, on July 31, Ajay used Jay’s phone to call his father, posing as a kidnapper. He demanded Rs 15 lakh in ransom
But since he had used Jay’s phone to make the call, the police were easily able to get the Call Detail Records (CDR). From the call logs, the police discovered that right before his death, Jay had received several calls and messages from a number that was registered in Ajay’s name. They then arrested him and also detained his accomplice.
Jay’s father informed the police and they began to track the Call Detail Records for Jay’s number. They soon discovered Ajay’s role after they found that one of the phone numbers in the call logs belonged to him
After his arrest, Ajay tried to mislead the cops again by claiming that Jay had been kidnapped before his eyes, but the police did not buy the story since they had recovered several SIM cards from Ajay’s house — including the one he had used to contact Jay while posing as Nancy.
They arrested Ajay and also detained his accomplice. He tried to deny his role at first, but the police had enough evidence against him and he finally confessed to the murder
