Maybe Sheena will walk in and clear the air: Peter Mukerjea's brother

Goa-based Gautam Mukerjea, who was in Mumbai yesterday, with brother Peter Mukerjea, was naturally distraught at the turn of events. He spoke on the phone saying that he was still trying to come to grips with the emerging situation.

“What is surprising is all these things which are coming out in the media. It’s disturbing for me to know what’s been alleged. I don’t know what it’s all about,” he said, adding that he was in Mumbai with his brother assessing the situation.

Gautam added, “There’s no clarity at the moment. We still don’t know if there’s been a murder. Maybe Sheena will walk in one of these days and clear the air. If there’s been a murder the law will take its course. I have nothing to hide,” he said.

He denied that he received any money, which was allegedly siphoned off by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea from INX media after stepping down from managerial positions in 2009, as stated in a media report. “No, nothing was transferred into my account. I’m not involved in anything. Why would they want to transfer money to me?” he said.

He, however, said that being Peter’s brother, they have a mutually supportive relationship and it is possible that he may have taken a small personal loan. “He’s my elder brother. We’re two brothers principally. It is possible there is some personal loan which he gave me, but I do not remember anything at the moment.

If at all there is such a thing it would have been a small amount when I could have been short of cash. I would not like to make any further comments on this,” he said. Gautam Mukerjea is the founder publisher-editor of a glossy Goa-based coffee table magazine called ‘Planet-Goa’.
