Kangana Ranaut: Was secretly hoping that I get hurt

Months after suffering a deep gash on her forehead during the shoot of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, Kangana Ranaut suffered a ligament tear on her right foot on Tuesday night after a stunt went horribly wrong

Kangana Ranaut knew all too well of the risks she was taking on - both physical and mental - when she signed up for the biopic on one of India's bravest warrior queens, Rani Lakshmibai. Months after suffering a deep gash on her forehead during the shoot of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, the actor suffered a ligament tear on her right foot on Tuesday night after a stunt went horribly wrong. She was rushed to the hospital from Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur where they were shooting. Advised week-long bed rest by the doctor, Ranaut flew down to Mumbai yesterday.

However, the accident didn't deter Ranaut's spirit. Speaking to mid-day about the incident, she even displayed her trademark Ranaut humour as she said, "It has been 60 days of action so far and after non-stop 30 nights of fighting armies with a baby hanging to my back, I was secretly hoping that I get hurt so that I could go back and hide in my house for some time."

The accident occurred when Ranaut had to jump off a 40-foot wall and land on horseback, with the child artiste strapped to her back. The actor didn't land properly and in an attempt to save the kid, ended up injuring her ankle. Currently on bed rest, Ranaut joked, "I am delighted that Krish [director] and crew are still working in Jodhpur while I am having my favourite cold coffee in Mumbai."

Producer Kamal Jain stated that the accident will not hamper the film's schedule in any way. "Kangana was almost done with her shoot [of the Jodhpur schedule]. We resume shooting in the first week of December and she will be able to join us by then."
