Opening batsman Milap Achrekar’s unbeaten century and medium-pacer Gautam Yadav’s eight wickets for 11 helped SKP Athletics’ beat Taki Team Sports Club at Mahim Juvenile ground (Shivaji Park) in the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League ‘F’ division yesterday.

SKP Athletics declared when they reached 206 for two. Achrekar put on 130 for the third wicket with Dinar Gavkar (75 not out). In reply, the Taki batsmen failed to cope with the former Mumbai Ranji probable Yadav’s pace and were bowled out for a mere 30. In his seven-over spell, Yadav conceded only 11 runs. Apart from his eight scalps, Yadav took one wicket in the second innings in which Taki ended up with 89 for six. Victory on the first innings gave SKP Athletics three points.
In an ‘A’ division match, National Cricket Club claimed first innings lead and earned three points against Apollo Cricket Club.
Sarvesh Damle, Shoeb Shaikh and Shashank Singh who were part of the DY Patil Sports Academy team which won the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) tournament in Bangalore on Saturday, landed in time for yesterday’s Kanga League fixture against Shivaji Park Gymkhana which ended in a draw at Shivaji Park.
