While this year's Diwali release Golmaal Again is minting money at the box-office, another popular comedy franchise, Housefull has locked Diwali 2019 for the release of its fourth instalment. Although producer Sajid Nadiadwala has been tight-lipped about the cast of Housefull 4, mid-day has learnt that there will be a new addition in the team -- Sanjay Dutt. The usual suspects Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh, who have been associated with the laugh riot since its inception, will be part of the project. Rounding off the male leads is John Abraham, who featured in Housefull 2 (2012).

Says a trade source, "Both John and Sanjay Dutt have agreed in principle. Sanjay will be playing a pivotal role; his character will be shown as strong and intense. Abhishek Bachchan, who was present in Housefull 3, won't be part of this one." The source adds that a South superstar will also be roped in for the ensemble cast, besides staple Boman Irani and Chunky Pandey.
The comedy that revolves around reincarnation will also mark the return of director Sajid Khan to the franchise. He had helmed the first two instalments, but had sat the third part out due to differences with Nadiadwala. However, the duo patched up earlier this year.

We hear, Khan's arrival also marks Jacqueline Fernandez's exit. The two dated during the shoot of the second instalment, but broke up in 2013 on a sour note. "He has told Sajid Nadiadwala that he doesn't want Jacqueline to be part of Housefull 4, given their history."
Nadiadwala remained unavailable for comment.
