The alleged murder by prison officials was discussed in the Assembly and council on Friday. Members from both sides took part in the discussion and demanded strict action to avoid such deaths. They accused senior prisons department officials of protecting the six female accused who are facing murder charges.
Making a sensational claim, BJP's Ashish Shelar said that Sheena Bora murder accused Indrani had engaged Shetye to do her personal work. "Indrani would ask Manjula to give her facials and pedicures. The government must probe this," he said.
NCP's Ajit Pawar said that female prisoners were sexually exploited. "I have proof to establish my allegation. I can give it to you," he told the minister.
Pawar's party colleague Jayant Patil said the prisons in the state were over crowded and there was urgent need to create more space by building new jails.
Patil assured all the allegations would be probed and information about the same would be given to the House.
