A fight over a television remote led to a 20-year-old youth being stabbed to death by a teen boy in Pune.

The deceased was identified as Ramkumar Yadav (20), who hailed from Uttar Pradesh and was a resident of Pimple Gurav area. The incident came to light when the deceased's roommate Ramkishor Mangaldas (23) lodged a complaint with Sangvi police station which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune city police on Saturday against the 17-year-old boy.
A case of murder has been registered and the teenager detained by the police.
Inspector Prabhakar Dhage, who is in-charge of Sangvi police station and heading the probe into the case, said, “The deceased and detained teens used to stay together in a rental room at Pimple-Gurav area and work at a construction site as labourer. The incident took place on the evening of April 8the around 8 pm when the accused was chopping onion and cooking for dinner. The youth wanted to hear some songs, but the deceased changed the channel. This went on for hours. The accused then demanded the use of the TV remote claiming that since he had paid for the the recharge of the TV subscription for this month he had the right to watch the channel of his choice. After which a scuffle ensued. Later the accused stabbed Yadav in the stomach with the knife he had in his hand. The stabbing led to Yadav losing consciousness.”
He added, "Yadav was later rushed by the complainant to Aundh hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors. The doctors alerted us and we detained him and interrogated."
