A Mumbai Dahi Handi group holding the record for highest human pyramid now has a music video featuring it, thanks to Electronica composer Donn Bhat's new song 'Disco Disco'
Suburban King/Top Girl
It might be early in the year to begin festivities around Janmashtami but Electronica producer and composer Donn Bhat's latest offering, Disco Disco, fuses a coaol and heady mix of Retro Disco with Mumbai's famous Dahi Handi celebrations. This music video — a first from his recently-released album Passenger Revelator — is in the form of a short film, titled Suburban King/Top Girl directed by Aakash Bhatia. The film fuses the song with the boisterous Dahi Handi celebrations, taking place during Janmashtami in Maharashtra.

Shot over 10 days across various locations in Mumbai during the festival last year, the film features Jai Jawan Govinda Pathak group from Jogeshwari East. In 2012, this group became part of the Guinness World Records for the highest human pyramid ever made, at nine tiers, and continues to hold the record till today.

Bhat says, “When I finished producing the track Disco Disco, I was pretty sure that a regular 'cool' looking video was not what I wanted. When I heard that Aakash had shot this film with three characters and their journey though the Dahi Handi celebrations, and that he wanted to make a documentary music video out of it, I was up for it. Disco Disco suited the video perfectly due to its raw appeal.”
Apart from documenting various practice sessions by the group, the video also features short clips of interviews with the group members.
