The controversy over Anil Kumble's ouster as Team India coach does not seem to have affected Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli's image.
The 28-year-old has just added another feather to his illustrious cap. Always popular, though the Kumble episode may have affected it a bit, Virat is now among the most followed Indians on Facebook. The young Indian skipper is the second-most followed Indian on Facebook with more than 35 million followers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi still leads the race with 42.2 million FB followers.
Kohli has even overtaken Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the popularity charts on Facebook by a difference of more than 6,00,000 followers.
Virat has also surpassed other B-town stars like Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and even the legend himself -- Amitabh Bachchan.
That's not all, Kohli also has a huge Twitter and Instagram following. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper has 16 million followers on Twitter and 14 million on Instagram to emerge as the most famous cricketer of all time around the world.
After replacing Mahendra Singh Dhoni as skipper, Kohli guided India to Test series wins against New Zealand, England and Australia before leading RCB in the 10th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Virat Kohli is currently leading the Indian team in West Indies for the limited-overs series.
