The CBI has conducted searches at Kandivli yesterday after arresting a person from Kannauj (UP) in a case related to the allegations of uploading/sharing of child abuse videos and images on Whatsapp groups. Officials said the person from Kandivli was not yet arrested.

CBI officials said they have registered a case against five persons, residents of Delhi, Maharashtra and UP and others under Section 67B of the IT Act, 2000. CBI conducted searches at five places in Delhi, Noida, Kannauj (both in UP) and Mumbai which led to recovery of mobile phones, tablets and laptops containing the alleged incriminating material depicting children in obscene, indecent and sexually explicit acts.

During the search operation, it was found that the group consisted of more than 100 members from 18 countries, officials said.
