Bollywood actor and BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha's house in Juhu became the latest target of the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The corporation demolished several sections of the house for allegedly having been constructed illegally.
The demolition comes in the wake of several unaswered notices that were sent under the Maharashtra Region & Town Planning Act (MRTP) for the illegal constructions during the past month. Sinha will now be booked under the municipality's laws and will also have to pay costs incurred for the demolition.
The house, named 'Ramayan', is eight-storeys tall and is reported to have illegally constructed structures in the terrace, refuge and stilt areas. In addition, the actor has been asked to move his prayer room, failing which, it too would be razed.
In response to BMC's actions, Sinha wrote on Twitter, 'The part demolition of my home "Ramayan" in Mumbai is presently the most talked about news. People are asking me if I am paying the price for honest politics based on facts, figures & truth & for supporting statesman Yashwant Sinha's support to Satara farmers.I have no answer"

It could well be! Started with the removal of my security cover in Delhi..& now demolition at my residence. In all fairness, it cud also be a knee jerk reaction of BMC after the tragic fire in some Mumbai restaurants. If so, I welcome the reaction..hope BMC continues..2>3

He then added, "It could well be! Started with the removal of my security cover in Delhi..& now demolition at my residence. In all fairness, it cud also be a knee jerk reaction of BMC after the tragic fire in some Mumbai restaurants. If so, I welcome the reaction..hope BMC continues."
The actor had earlier termed the additionally constructed structures as "minor alterations". Shatrughan Sinha and his family have been resident in the Juhu bungalow since 2012. In the past, other Bollywood actors too have faced the wrath of the BMC for illegalextensions to their bungalows.
