In an ironic turn of events, the shoot of Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's Batti Gul Meter Chalu - which revolves around electricity theft - was stalled due to power failure in Tehri, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday.

A source from the crew says, "The shooting had to be stopped mid-scene when a power cut happened. The power outage lasted for more than 12 hours. Even though the makers arranged for generators, we could resume the shoot only by early evening."

However, the team made the most of the situation. Considering the social drama revolves around power supply, they gained more insights into the subject by conversing with the locals about the frequent power cuts in the area. "Both Shahid and Shraddha found out about the hydel projects that are pending approvals from the ministry of Water Resources. The locals told them that they face power cuts regularly, some as long as 10-12 hours. These inputs helped them make a few improvisations to the story," adds the source.
