Following in the footsteps of Abhishek Bachchan, who purchased the Pro Kabaddi League's Jaipur Pink Panthers, Akshay Kumar has decided to spend his moolah on acquiring the League's Bengal Warriors.
A well-placed source tells mid-day that Kumar, who has been keen to purchase a kabaddi team for a while, had his eyes locked on this one, formerly owned by the Future Group.
"Akshay has always loved the sport and wanted to own a team. This season, he has decided to work on his plan. The papers were signed by his representative last evening."
Interestingly, Bengal Warriors will play the inaugural match against Bengaluru Bulls. The team is captained by Dinesh Kumar and coached by Raj Narain Sharma. Kumar remained unavailable for a comment.
