Ajay Devgn promotes 'Golmaal Again' despite severe back ache

A hectic shooting schedule has taken a toll on Ajay Devgn's health and left the actor with a back injury. However, this hasn't deterred him from carrying out his commitments. Devgn, who is currently promoting his upcoming comedy, Golmaal Again, has been suffering from a bad back for a while, but chose to be part of a six-hour media interaction on Tuesday.

A source close to Devgn blames his hectic schedule for his condition. "Ajay has been on a chock-a-block schedule for close to a year. He started working on Golmaal as soon as he wrapped up Baadshaho last month, and then kicked off the first schedule of his next, Raid [Raj Kumar Gupta's drama] in Lucknow. After returning to the city last week, he got into promotions for Golmaal 4. Given that he has had little time to rest, the pain has aggravated. Medicines have helped, but only to an extent," says the source, adding that the unit of Rohit Shetty's comedy is keeping Devgn's comfort on priority.

mid-day hears that the actor struggled to pull through Tuesday's interviews, and took frequent breaks to ease the pain. "He even requested for a specific chair that would ease the tenderness," the source says.

Devgn's spokesperson tells mid-day that the actor was unwilling to defer the promotions since he did not wish to inconvenience the cast. "The team of Golmaal has worked hard to make arrangements for the promotions. Getting all cast members together was also a feat. This franchise is close to his heart, which is why he was also willing to travel to Lonavla to shoot for Bigg Boss 11 over the weekend. He only took a day's break on Monday," the spokesperson says.
