Friday fury
The flight AI 9614 was slated to take off at 12.45 pm, but at 1.30 pm on Friday, it was announced that the flight had been cancelled. The frustrated passengers had a heated argument with the airport staff, as they had faced a similar situation on Tuesday. Some of them had been asked to report back on Friday, but were once again, let down by the unavailability of the aircraft.
The flight to Allahabad showed different departure timings on different tickets
Expressing his disappointment, MP Singh, a passenger said, “The departure time mentioned on my ticket was 10.30 am, while on another passenger’s ticket it was 1 pm. How can one flight have two timings? This clearly indicates that the airline already knew about this goof up.”
Another passenger said, “They have issued us a boarding pass flight that stated the flight would take off on Saturday. This will, however, take us to Varanasi from where we will be shifted to an Allahabad flight. I had to join my office on Friday but I will be unable to do so. On top of that, the airline staff is rude and least bothered about their passengers.” The flight, originally slotted for 8 am on Saturday, finally left at 11.15 am.
Official speak
Speaking to sunday mid-day, an official from Uttar Pradesh Police at Allahabad Airport said, “Only this flight has been cancelled so far. All remaining flights from Delhi have landed as the weather is comparatively clear today.” A spokesperson from Air India said, “The flight was delayed due to unavailability of crew.”
Saturday chaos
Meanwhile, yesterday, the Air India staff had to yet again face irate passengers of the Mumbai-Nagpur flight, when they were told their flight was delayed because of due to unavailability of crew. “The aircraft was parked at a bay but due to unavailability of the pilot, we were not able to make the passengers board the flight,” said an airline official.
The AI 627 flight, that was to originally depart at 5.55 am, finally departed at 9.30 am, nearly four hours after its scheduled time of departure.
