The CBI lawyer today told the special TADA court here that the photograph of gangster Abu Salem and his alleged wife, published by a city-based tabloid, appeared to be a morphed one. "The photo appears to be morphed, but I will take instructions from the agency and will make submission before the court," said special CBI prosecutor Deepak Salvi.

Special Judge G A Sanap had yesterday directed the CBI to make a submission regarding the newspaper story about Salem's alleged marriage with a Mumbra-based woman while he was in police's custody.
Earlier, the judge had directed Thane police to conduct an inquiry after the tabloid reported that Salem married the woman 'over the phone' during a train journey in January when he was being taken by police to Lucknow for a court hearing.
Salem, speaking to reporters in the court premises later, had said the report was a baseless "rumour". The gangster, an accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, was extradited to India from Portugal in 2005.
