The Development Plan (DP) 2014-2034 is likely to be given the green light by the BMC today.
The general body of corporators was expected to convene at noon today to finalise the plan. Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar was to chair the meeting. The draft will, however, see 22,465 changes recommended by the six-member planning committee as well as another 300 by ward corporators.
Sources said there are 140-odd changes suggested by the Sena alone. According to the BMC, 13,000 suggestions/objections to the draft plan had been received from citizens.
The proposed Metro car shed in Aarey is expected to be the talking point at today's meeting. The Sena has been pushing for it to be shifted out of Aarey.
A senior civic official said the DP's approval was delayed owing to the BMC election. "After the planning committee submitted its report, ward corporators were asked to give their suggestions and objections to their party leaders. Party leaders sat together and listed about 300 amendments to the draft."
The DP -- the blueprint for the city's infrastructural growth for the next two decades -- has been long overdue. Once approved by the BMC, it will be forwarded to the state government, where it will again be put to scrutiny and additions/alterations made before being made public. City builders hoped that the plan would be released before the year-end.
