India, as evidence to show that Dawood Ibrahim, the mastermind of 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, is holed up in Pakistan, had submitted a dossier that cited these nine addresses in Pakistan as those frequented by him. The dossier also noted that he is known to frequently change his locations and addresses there.
The Security Council’s ISIL and Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee amended its entry yesterday concerning Dawood with “underline and strikethrough”.
While six addresses provided by India have not been amended, three have been removed. One of the three addresses, which have been dropped by the Committee from its list, was found similar to that of a residence of Islamabad’s envoy to the UN Maleeha Lodhi.
In the amendment, the Committee has struck through the address in Karachi and noted, “This address was later found to be similar to that of a residence belonging to Lodhi”.
When asked about the amendment, a top Indian official here said that one address of Dawood in the listing entry was incorrect. The amendment also strikes through two other addresses in Karachi.
“On 22 August 2016, the Security Council Committee enacted the amendments specified with underline and strikethrough in the entry” concerning Dawood on its ISIL (Daesh) and Al-Qaeda Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo, it said.
Meanwhile, Islamabad has always denied Dawood’s presence in Pakistan.
